Hajime no ippo

Ippo Makunouchi is an extremely timid high school student who spends all his spare time helping his mother run the family fishing charter business. Because of his quiet nature, he is a constant target for relentless school bullies. After a severe beating is interrupted by professional middleweight boxer Mamoru Takamura, Ippo is brought to the Kamogawa Boxing Gym to recover. Intrigued by the strength of the boxers, Ippo asks Takamura to train him. Discovering he possesses an extraordinarily powerful natural punching force, Ippo begins his grueling journey to turn professional and find the answer to his lifelong question: what does it truly mean to be strong?
