A cheerful, innocent alien named Takopi lands on Earth to spread joy and happiness. He meets a quiet, deeply troubled fourth-grader named Shizuka Kuze, whose life is filled with trauma and abuse. Armed with various magical "happy gadgets," Takopi attempts to fix her life, only to slowly realize that the dark reality of human suffering is far more complex than his gadgets can solve.
