Set in 1999 during the peak of Y2K doomsday anxiety, The WONDERfools follows a quirky group of socially awkward townies in Haeseong City who unexpectedly acquire flawed, unpredictable superpowers after a mysterious local incident. Led by the charm-filled but chaotic troublemaker Eun Chae-ni and the socially awkward city hall official Lee Woon-jung, this ragtag crew of accidental heroes must learn to manage their uncontrollable abilities. Together, they must band together to defend their beloved community from sinister forces responsible for a dark string of local disappearances.
